GROW- Getting Ready for Opportunities in Work- Bobby Dodd Institute (BDI) is offering a five (5) day introduction to employment for students aged 14-22 living with a disability. BDI’s program takes a hands-on approach through a partnership with various community partners and employers to expand students’ understanding of the employment world, by touring various locations throughout the community. The program is designed to offer students an introduction to career and post-secondary options, and training programs, while providing insight into work readiness skills, such as dressing for success, completing applications, setting up a bank account, and navigating public transportation. BDI’s program is designed to provide tours of local employer locations and volunteer opportunities to gain an understanding of the real work skills necessary for the workplace. BDI will educate students on the importance of self-advocacy and on-the-job accommodations that could assist them in reaching their employment goals. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
